Amnesty International
The Amnesty International website contains a thematic section on
women. This provides news and reports on issues directly effecting
women from around the world. Most of the stories highlight infringements
of women's human rights.

High Commissioner for Refugees
UNHCR's Refworld page provides a variety of information on women
in various countires. Of paricular interest are;

The Office of the Senior Coordinator for International Women's Issues
provides information and fact sheets on women's situation in several
countries.

- United Nations
Division for the Advancement of Women
These pages provide analysis of women's rights issues in a global
context, promoting awareness of such issues and advocating for gender
equality. They also deal with the everyday issues faced by women
who are living in conflict
situations and promote women's contribution to fostering a culture
of peace.

An initiative of the Women and Public Policy Program at
Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and Hunt's Alternatives.
Women Waging Peace connects women addressing conflcit around the
world in the belief that they have a role to play, "in preventing violent
conflict, stopping war, reconstructing ravaged societies, and sustaining
peace in fragile areas around the world".

Rights and Democratic Development
A Canadian centre which encourages and supports the promotion, development
and strengthening of democratic and human rights institutions and

The ICRC provides a section of its website dedicated to the issue
of women and war. This includes useful reports and statements on

CAIN provides several academic articles on the subject of women

United Nations and the Status of Women
Subtitled, 'Setting the Global Gender Agenda', these pages provide
information on women's rights and other issues. There is, for example,
a section on the Commission on the Status of Women and also one
on the role of women in development.
