Ioannis is a native of Greece. He graduated from Panteion University
of Social and Political Sciences, Athens with a degree in International
Studies in 1994 and holds a Master's degree in International Relations
from the University of Kent at Canterbury where he also received the
John Burton Prize 1998.
He is a former
Alexander S. Onassis Fellow. His prior work has included research
at the Institute of International Relations, Athens, the Institute
of International Economic Relations, Athens, the Greek Ministry
of Defence and field work with the OSCE. His research interests
include conflict analysis, theoretical aspects of identity and
conflict, critical and post-structural security studies, International
Relations theory, and Central & Eastern
European affairs.
During his stay at INCORE Ioannis is attempting an inter-disciplinary
examination of the transformation of identities before the conflict in
former Yugoslavia. As part of this project, he has recently conducted
field research in Bosnia.
