Prof Tom Fraser Delivers Inaugural Lecture in India
Professor Fraser delivered the Inaugural Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Lecture at the invitation of Lord Rana on 'Lala Lajpat Rai and National Regeneration' at a conference on 'Rural Planning and Development' on 18 November 2012 at Cordia Group of Institutes, Sanghol, Punjab, India. The previous day, his new edited book, India's Rural Transformation and Development: Issues, Processes and Direction, was presented to the Chief Minister of Pujnjab, Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, at the opening ceremony. The book also contains his chapter on 'Gandhi, Village Development and India's Freedom Movement'. Known as the 'Lion of Punjab', Lala Lajpat Rai (1865-1928) was one of the leading Indian politicians of his generation, who founded the Servants of the People Society.
