Short Course: Peacebuilding in Divided Societies
Overview
The purpose of this course is to provide participants with a thorough grounding of the academic field of peacebuilding and the different approaches and interventions employed within it. Drawing on a range of international examples, participants will gain an understanding of the various definitions and theoretical understandings of peacebuilding and will develop a broad understanding of the various structural, economic, social and psychological impacts which require attention following violent conflict. This course is aimed at anyone interested in the theory and application of intercommunal peacebuilding.

This course is also offered as a module within the following programme: PgDip/MSc Applied Peace and Conflict Studies
If you successfully complete this course and then wish to apply for this programme, you would normally be exempt from the equivalent module providing you meet the entry conditions for the full programme.
Assessment
100% Coursework - (1) Critical Review and (2) Essay
Delivery
The course requires attendance from 10:15am - 2:05pm on six Fridays. Start date Friday 6th of November until Friday 11th of December.

Entry Requirements
Any undergraduate degree.
Credit and Certification
15 Credit Points. These short courses can be taken individually or combined over a period of time towards a Postgraduate Certificate of Professional Development.
